We all know IoT devices are poorly secured by design. Mirai successfully exploited those weaknesses to become one of the biggest botnet in 2016. Due to the release of its source code, several variants emerged. In this paper, I make a comparison between the Mirai port scanner and other popular port scanner actually used today. Then, I make an analysis of the current status of Mirai scanner among other ones. In the end, I make an analysis of the Mirai source code and exploit its weaknesses to demonstrate its impact can be reduced by one single attacker. Happy reading!
