Until recently, small talk has often been underestimated or dismissed in the business context, yet recent studies show that it may play a significant role in relations building and cohesion in the workplace. This dissertation seeks to analyze the impact small talk has on business communication and focuses on its specific contribution to the development of workplace relationships. To answer the research question an online survey was administered to professionals across different countries and workplace settings alongside a semi-structured interview.
