La recepción del efecto personaje en El Sueño del celta de Mario Vargas Llosa

(spa) El objetivo de esta tesis es estudiar el efecto personaje, concepto desarrollado por Vincent Jouve, en relación con la percepción que el lector puede tener del protagonista de la novela El sueño del celta de Mario Vargas Llosa, Roger Casement. Esta obra retoma un estudio histórico del personaje, ya que vivió a finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX, de lo que se desprende que su vida ya fue controvertida en su momento. Ahora bien, antes de entrar en el análisis de la novela, comenzaré explicando los conceptos que utilizaré para explicar el efecto del personaje (leer, leer, leer) a la vez que intentaré dar una definición del género de la novela de Vargas Llosa, que pueda llevar al lector a utilizarlo para juzgar a Casement. A continuación, continúo con el tema de la ideología de Roger Casement y su evolución antes de pasar al siguiente capítulo que analiza su orientación sexual en la novela. Estos dos capítulos también se basarán en un estudio histórico de los hechos incluidos en los capítulos pares de El sueño del celta. Finalmente, dado que se deducirá que se trata efectivamente de una novela, el último capítulo de esta tesis se centrará en los aspectos más bien ficticios de la obra en relación con los capítulos impares de El sueño del celta. La conclusión de este trabajo será un posible juicio del lector hacia el protagonista empujando al lector en diferentes fases, pudiendo dar una opinión acertada o matizada de este hombre donde una instancia lectoral puede ocupar un lugar más importante frente a las otras.

(eng) The aim of this thesis is to study the character effect, a concept developed by Vincent Jouve, in relation to the perception that the reader may have of the protagonist of the novel El sueño del celta by Mario Vargas Llosa, Roger Casement. This work takes up a historical study of the character, since he lived at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, from which it was possible to see that his life was already controversial at the time. Now, before entering into the analysis of the novel, I will start by explaining the concepts I will use in order to explain the character effect (reading, reading, read) while trying to give a definition of the genre of Vargas Llosa's novel, which could lead the reader to use it to judge Casement. I then continue with the theme of Roger Casement's ideology and its evolution before moving on to the next chapter which analyses his sexual orientation in the novel. These two chapters will also be based on a historical study of the facts included in the even-numbered chapters of El sueño del celta. Finally, since it will be deduced that it is indeed a novel, the last chapter of this thesis will focus on the rather fictional aspects of the work with regard to the odd-numbered chapters of El sueño del celta. The conclusion of this work will be a potential judgement of the reader towards the protagonist, pushing the reader in different phases, being able to give a precise or nuanced opinion of this man where a readerly instance can take a more important place in front of the other two.
