Energy storage is and has always been an issue in our society. Nowadays, many differents ways to store the energy exist, the CAES is one of them. The Compressed Air Energy Storage uses a multi-stage compressor and a cooling system to compress and cool down the hot air. Afterwards, the air is stored to produce energy.
The use of water cycle to cool down the air from the mulit-stage compression requires high energy input. Replacing the water cycle by a ejector cycle could reduce the costs linked to the energy consumption.
This theses develops a real gas model to predict the performance of the new cooling cycle. The MATLAB simulations compare the energy consumption of the different possible cooling cycles.
