Transport measurement on MBE-grown topological semimetal (Bi2)5(Bi2Se3)7 reveal a pronounced Kondo effect. First-principle simulations allow to identify the nature of the associated magnetic scatterers as Bi vacancies. This represents a rare demonstration of intrinsic magnetic scattering inside a topological material. This work thus provides a valuable demonstration that intrinsic defects can strongly impact the properties of topological materials.
