My doctoral research focuses on Luigi Nono's music and its role in the representation and in the transmission of the memory of the Shoah. Through an analysis of Nono's compositions, I explore how his music became an emotional and cognitive medium for narrating traumatic events. Fund analysis of Nono's musical works on theories of memory mechanisms, with a particular interest in how Nono's personal memory mechanisms helped to organise the material musical material. My research investigates Nono's compositional strategies, including dodecaphony, sound quotations and structural dynamics, to understand how they capture the essence of his experiences during the Holocaust. The main objective is to demonstrate that Nono's music constitutes a powerful testimony, capable of evoke empathy, awareness and reflection on the tragedy of the Holocaust. This study contributes to the understanding of how music can preserve the unheard silence of the victims, providing an enduring voice for the memory of the atrocities of the Holocaust. lasting voice for the remembrance of past atrocities. In addition, I will explore how collective memory and identity Jewish identity influenced Nono's creative process, with a particular focus on how these elements acted from within to order the musical phenomena provoked on a perceptual basis.
