La rééducation de l’incontinence urinaire de l’homme

La rééducation pelvipérinéologique plus spécifiquement appliquée à l’incontinence urinaire (IU) de l’homme est proposée depuis la fin des années 1990. Un certain nombre d’études en ont étudié les indications et les résultats, certaines d’entre elles étant scientifiques, randomisées et avec groupe témoin, et d’autres relatant davantage une expérience et une étude de population [1–13]. L’anatomie masculine du bas appareil urinaire protège l’homme de l’IU d’effort. Ce sont essentiellement les séquelles postopératoires ou un contexte neurologique qui peuvent générer l’incontinence d’urine. L’hyperactivité vésicale intervient dans un contexte de dysfonction vésicale ou dans le cadre d’une pathologie prostatique. L’IU serait plus fréquente chez l’homme en cas d’association d’une instabilité vésicale ou d’autres symptômes tels qu’une pollakiurie ou une urgenturie [14]. Il est également décrit une incontinence postmictionnelle. Le programme de rééducation est élaboré selon les symptômes urinaires et leur(s) étiologie(s).
