The decrease of the electrical conductivity in air of both electrochemically and chemically synthesized polypyrroles is studied. This decrease is found to be due to oxidative degradation. It appears to follow a first-order kinetics. The decrease of the conductivity is larger for the chemically synthesized polypyrrole than for the electrochemically synthesized one because of the larger surface area of the polymer particles in the former.
