Patristic exegesis constitutes one of the essential aspects of ancient Christian thought and is "the principal form which the Christian synthesis took on" (H. de Lubac). Interest for the Fathers' exegesis has become today one of the principal motors of patristic studies. The publication of the exegetical catenae on Genesis and Exodus (edited by Fr. Petit) is welcomed here and a presentation is given of about twenty monographs which give a varied image of the relationship of the Fathers to the Scripture.
