The paper deals with reuse, recycling, and re-functionalization practices in Volterra and its territory between 2nd B.C.- 5th A.D. The aim is to demonstrate that a systematic study of these practices, integrating available sources and data, contributes to a better knowledge of resource management, space perception and the construction of landscapes of power. Thus, it prompts a reflection on the methodological approach to the human-environment relationship concerning adopting ante-litteram circular economy models in antiquity.
