Software systems are normally exposed to dynamic environments. To ensure cost-effective operations, many systems may benefit from accommodating their resources according to variations in the workload, an ability known as elastic scaling. Cloud computing has enabled many applications to benefit from elastic scaling providing easy access to a large pool of resource types that costumers can request and release as needed. Due to its many benefits, elastic scaling has deserved significant attention in the literature [1]–[5]
