HNF1ß: A gene, several phenotypes

La mutation du gène HNF1β conduit à une maladie de présentation très variable, allant de la forme la plus classique, associant kystes rénaux et diabète, à des manifestations cliniques moins spécifiques et parfois isolées, comme une malformation des voies urinaires, une anomalie génitale, un retard mental, en passant par des observations asymptomatiques, comme une atrophie pancréatique, une cholestase biologique, une hypomagnésémie. La confirmation génétique de cette maladie, de transmission autosomique dominante, mais dont le taux de néomutation est élevé, permet de proposer au patient une prise en charge et un conseil génétique appropriés

(eng) Mutation of HNFl ß gane leads to a disease with highty variable presentations, ranging from the most typical, such as renal cysts and diabetes syndrome, to less specific and at times isolated manifestations, such as urinary tract malformation, genital abnormality, and mental retardation, while including as well asymptomatic observations like pancreatic atrophy, biological cholesta-sis, and hypomagnesemia. Genetic confirmation of the disease, along with its autosomal dom-inant transmission yet with a high rate of neomutations, provides the patient with the opportunity of appropriate management and genetic counselling
