We are living at a moment where organisations are likely to know and go through a crisis. However are organisations correctly prepared to face them ? Roux-Dufort (2003, p.4) underlines this paradox : « at a moment where organisations are submitted to a greater number of crisis, there level of preparation stays low or non-existant ». Lagadec insist on the fact that managers aren’t well prepared. However, « we would not be able to go through a crisis – real or simulated- without solid preparation » (Roux Dufort, 2003, p.12). This preparation is important due to the fact that the level of crisis begining has considerably lowered these last few years but the cost that they engender hasn’t stopped growing. The objective of this research is to observe what happens in reality and to understand the real importance that organisations give to crisis dipositions and more precisely to the communication issue that is inevitably linked to crisis. This research is not exhaustive but is centered on ten organisation, that can all potentially go through a crisis at a certain time in their history.
