The authors consider axially symmetric cosmological models with a metric of Kantowski-Sachs type. Einstein's equations are reduced to a system of two ordinary differential equations of first order, and the behaviour of the solutions in the neighborhood of the singular points of the system are classified. The implications for the cosmological models are discussed.
