Nocardiosis is an uncommon bacterial infection, usually seen in immuno-compromised patients. Lungs are the most frequently involved site. Organ transplantation and treatment with immunosuppressive drugs are the main risk factors. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and glucocorticoid intake are risk factors more specific to pulmonary nocardiosis. Recognition of this entity is often a diagnostic challenge as its presentation is highly variable and nonspecific.
