This contribution constitutes the Belgian report published in the European Tort Law Yearbook 2015, edited by the European Centre of Tort and Insurance Law together with the Institute for European Tort Law of the Austrian Academy of Science and the University of Graz. The Yearbook provides an overview of the latest developments in tort law in Europe (important court decisions, new legislation and literature overview). The Belgian study points out especially about six decisions of the Cour de cassation delivered in late 2014 and in 2015 (on the following topics: starting point of the limitation period, reversal of the presumption of parents’ liability, liability of the association of co-owners in its quality of guardian of a defective thing, damage sustained by a public employer in the case of temporary incapacity of an officer, burden of proof in the case a lawyer neglected his duty to inform his client and the assessment of the loss of a chance).
