CO 2 is one of the major contributors to greenhouse effect and its recovery is a key issue to guarantee the sustainability of industrial processes. The mass transfer of CO 2 has been studied in parallel flow membrane contactors where the ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium ethylsulfate is used as the absorption liquid. A polypropylene hollow fiber module is the membrane device where CO 2 absorption takes place. The overall mass transfer coefficients are experimentally obtained. The selection of ionic liquids in terms of magnetization for testing as absorbents of CO 2 when applying different magnetic fields is highlighted.
