In this Conclusive chapter of the book Nudge and the Law: A European Perspective, we offer our thoughts on the two major themes for research on law and behavioural sciences, namely the legitimacy of behavioural public intervention and its practicability. About legitimacy, we explain that legitimacy issues arise only in a subset of cases, which we identify. We also offer fresh critical thoughts regarding the argument that behavioural public intervention restricts individual autonomy. On practicability, we review methodological challenges that public authorities face when they undertake to incorporate behavioural insights in policy making and review currently available cures.
