This dissertation examines a subject that is heavily covered, namely the Board of Directors. However, the prism used is different as it examines the effect of business life cycles on this entity of corporate governance. The issue focuses more specifically on the role and composition of the Board of Directors, trying to understand the development of these characteristics. The methodology is qualitative and is based on interviews with actors in the field. The sample analysed includes ten companies of different sizes and sectors. This study shows a big difference in the development of the role and composition of the Board of Directors according to the ambition of the company.
