The last decade has seen the emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT), and its derivatives such as smart homes. As a result, the amount of attacks against these systems has also increased. Hopefully, this has attracted the attention of the research community. In this study, we propose an intelligent firewall to improve the security of these environments. This system is dynamic and relies on user-defined policies to adapt to the interactions of smart objects in smart homes. Moreover, it provides an abstraction layer capable of coping with the heterogeneity of protocols existing in the IoT.
