This thesis analyses the evolution of the economic inequalities in the industrialised countries since the Thirties. Inequalities have continuously decreased from that time until the Seventies, then they have been, and are still continuously increasing. Key elements of economic policies are analysed in relation with their influence on this evolution. The global growth context is of prime importance, as it has been strongly impacting the level of liberalisation of the finance sector and the importance of the role of states in the economy. These elements have in turn strongly impacted the evolution of the inequalities, through their continuous influence on other elements such as the progressivity of the tax system, redistributive policies, the trends in the labour market…
