The thesis aims to provide information on the manner how Russian authorities, with at their top the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, are making their view of external actions accepted by the Russians. The first angle applied is a theoretical approach where practices in the Russian Federation are explained through propaganda, media and power theories, while the second angle is more analytical. Indeed, the theory will be put in perspective with the effective outcome among the public opinion, with as main method the use of surveys. Two case studies will be discussed – the Ukrainian and the Syrian conflict – in order to note the differences between two opposite external events in terms of Russian interests.
