Over 15% of the total world's population lives with some form of disability. Unfortunately, this part of the population has often been ignored by the society due to the lack of regulation in their favor and the poor recognition of disability as a dimension of diversity. Nowadays, disabled people have the right to participate actively in all the different aspects of the daily life. This participation includes the right to freely choose a work in a regular employment setting. Nevertheless, in Belgium, the situation for the inclusion of disabled people in the workplace and within society remains a big topic. As a consequence, this master thesis aims to analyse the professional Belgian environment in which disabled people develop themselves everyday. Moreover, it analyses the different solutions which exist for the inclusion of disabled people in the workplace; namely the supported forms of employment. Three forms of supported employment will be analyzed: reasonable accommodations in regular employment settings, sheltered workshops and enclave work sites. Each form will be studied in order to determine to what extent they represent a suitable solution for the inclusion of disabled people in the workplace in Belgium.
