Previous studies have stressed out the universality and robustness of the predictive power of social status on competence and agency. However, it has been argued that this pattern may be moderated by ideological motives. Based upon this, the present Master’s Thesis examine whether meritocratic worldview impact the relationship between status and the vertical dimensions, as well as the impact in the relationship between competence and agency. Taken together, the results do not support the hypothesis that meritocratic worldview enhance the impact of status on the vertical dimension nor that it strength the relation between competence and agency. The discussion is focused on the possible impact of social desirability bias and system threats. Finally, further lines of researches are suggested.
