L'avventura fiumana come esperienza iniziatica : Analisi delle memorie La Quinta Stagione o i Centauri di Fiume di Léon Kochnitzky

(ita) All'indomani della Grande Guerra, Fiume (in croato Rijeka) diventa il teatro di un'esperienza politica unica e irripetibile: nazionalisti, libertari e artisti occupano la città dal settembre 1919 al dicembre 1920 sotto il comando di Gabriele D'Annunzio. Fra i protagonisti dell'Impresa fiumana figura un intellettuale belga, Léon Kochnitzky, autore delle memorie La Quinta Stagione o i Centauri di Fiume, in francese Le Bal des Ardents ou les Saisons fiumaines. Sebbene il testo venga spesso citato negli studi sulla questione fiumana, finora è stato solamente ricordato per completare documenti storici, con lo scopo di ricreare l’atmosfera di “festa della rivoluzione”. Tali ricerche sembrano tralasciare la singolarità del testo, limitandosi ad un confronto con gli altri scritti della memoria di Fiume, senza considerare le sue specificità letterarie. Cent’anni dopo la loro pubblicazione, le memorie di Kochnitzky meritano un approfondimento che vada oltre le considerazioni storico-politiche. La presente tesi prende ovviamente in conto questi aspetti fondamentali, ma propone una chiave di lettura originale: leggere la testimonianza come la narrazione di un’esperienza iniziatica. Grazie a un incrocio fra diverse discipline degli studi umanistici, come quelli sull'immaginario o sulla cognizione, esamineremo le rappresentazioni seguenti: l’immagine dell’autore nel testo, il microcosmo fiumano e la figura di D’Annunzio.

(eng) In the aftermath of the Great War, Fiume (Rijeka in Croatian) became the scene of a unique and unrepeatable political experience: nationalists, revolutionaries and artists occupied the city from September 1919 to December 1920 under the command of Gabriele D'Annunzio. Among the protagonists of the Impresa di Fiume was a Belgian intellectual, Léon Kochnitzky, author of the memoirs La Quinta Stagione o i Centauri di Fiume, in French Le Bal des Ardents ou les Saisons fiumaines. Although the text is often quoted in studies of the Fiume issue, so far it has only been mentioned to supplement historical documents, with the aim of recreating the "festa della rivoluzione" atmosphere. Such studies seem to neglect the singularity of the text, limiting themselves to a comparison with other writings on the Fiuman memory, without considering its literary specificities. One hundred years after its publication, La Quinta Stagione deserve an in-depth study that goes beyond historical and political considerations. This thesis obviously takes these fundamental aspects into account but proposes an original key to interpretation: reading the testimony as the narration of an initiatory experience. By crossing different disciplines of humanistic studies, such as those on the imaginary or cognition, we will examine the following representations: the image of the author in the text, the Fiuman microcosm and the figure of D’Annunzio.
