This dissertation was submitted in fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master in multilingual communication. This dissertation investigates the place and representation of women in the information technology sector. This research paper provides an analysis of the websites of three IT companies as well as an analysis of their Instagram accounts. The three companies that were investigated are Ammeon, IBM and Samsung. The main goal of this dissertation was to see whether companies tried to promote women in the information technology sector, and if so, how and by what mean. The final results of this investigation showed that women are still underrepresented in the information technology sector and that a set of factors still influence women’s decisions to join it (maternity, lack of role models, patriarchal culture, essentialism...). However, it appears that some companies begin to take this issue into account and try to improve women’s inclusion, especially IBM. It appears that this may be linked with the fact that its former CEO was a woman.
