This thesis presents the implementation of a penalization method in BigFlow, a Navier-Stokes equations numerical solver developed at UCL by different members of Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics team (TFL). The goal of this thesis was to handle flow past fixed and moving bodies. First, a validation analysis has been established to prove that the method works. After that, three application cases have been done, namely: flow past a cube at Re=100 with different orientations, flow past a wavy wall and the sedimentation of spheroid bodies.
