The goal of this paper is to compare the performance of low carbon indices with the performance of traditional indices. To do so, we expose the problem of carbon dioxide emissions before reviewing the literature at both corporate and institutional investment levels. Our analysis - based on several indicators and models - shows that the low carbon indices of our data set had better financial results than their traditional equivalents. While this result should be mitigated, it can be explained by a lower risk of unforeseen events, among other things.
