This comparative research aims to focus on the different situations about youth unemployment and job quality in Italy and Belgium. Studying the problem of youth unemployment, and its consequences for the quality of the work, is an essential tool in order to understand the European Union policies. On one hand, it is fundamental to recover the quantitative problem, which is connected with youth unemployment rate across the European Union. Some policies need to be taken in order to restore an acceptable employment rate. On the other hand, European legislators must take into account the “qualitative” part of these policies, in other words, the impact they have concerning job quality. These two dimensions should be taken into account for the purpose of solving youth unemployment and to ensure a better future to the next European Union generations. For these reasons, the twofold organization of the work allows us to tackle on this matter of urgency first in a quantitative way, and then in a qualitative way.
