To increase the capacity of its distribution grid and to make it more reliable, Ores wishes to develop a backbone grid for the medium voltage level (meaning closed rings all connected to the same substation). The objective of this work is to determine the best technology of protection for this kind of grid and to adapt it to Ores’s grid characteristics. The chosen solution is the protection by directional communicating relays developed by \textit{Siemens Company}. This work lingers over to demonstrate if the investment in this mode of protection is representing a gain or not for Ores through the comparison between a classical project and the closed ring project on the medium voltage level grid of Tubize.
